- Director, Telecommunications Division
The University of Connecticut (1981-1984). Managed a state-wide distance education and teleconferencing system which included a broadcast quality television facility, and a two-way dedicated microwave network. Produced several training and public service video programs for the State of Connecticut and high-technology industries in the New England region. Held adjunct faculty position in the Drama Department for teaching courses in video production and telecommunication and society.

The University of Connecticut (1980-1981). Produced radio and television programs featuring the outstanding faculty members of The University of Connecticut. Programs were widely distributed and broadcast on radio stations and cable television systems across the state of Connecticut.

Held seminars on the process of transfer of technology to developing countries.

- Managing Director, Educational Radio and Television of Iran
National Iranian Radio and Television (1973-1978)
Established the Educational Radio and Television of Iran (ERTI), developed a nationwide radio and television network. Trained professional staff for the network. Developed management systems, and administrative procedures. Supervised the production of hundreds of hours of instructional and educational radio and television programs. Supervised publication of professional books, and children's literature. Facilitated transfer of Instructional Development Institute from the United States to Iran. Developed a network of learning resource centers for supporting teachers and administrators. Equipped five thousand schools with instructional hardware and software. Held adjunct faculty position at the School of Cinema and Television. Taught graduate courses in educational technology and radio and television production.

About Dr. Farhad Saba

Dr. Farhad Saba is professor of Educational Technology at San Diego State University (1984-present), where he teaches courses on distance education, and cyberculture. He has been involved in the field of distance education since 1973, first as the Managing Director of Educational Radio and Television of Iran (1973-1978), and then as the Director of the Telecommunications Division at the University of Connecticut (1979-1984).

He is also the founder of Distance-Educator.com, which is an online news and information resource for practitioners in the field. His consulting work has included many corporations, and public institutions including Apple Computer Inc., Digital Equipment Corporation (merged with Compaq), Nortel, US Department of Education, Harvard Business School Publishing, Office of the Governor of the State of Connecticut, Office of the Chancellor of the California State University system, the World Bank, and San Diego County Office of Education.

Dr. Saba has presented in professional conferences in many countries including Afghanistan, The People's Republic of China, Great Britain, France, Malaysia, Mexico, Sweden, Switzerland (The United Nations), and Turkey. He is on the editorial board of the American Journal of Distance Education, and the International Review of Distance and Open Learning; and reviews manuscripts for major publishers such as Simon and Schuster, Prentice-Hall, and Wadsworth. Dr. Saba's scholarly publications have been honored by several international awards including the Charles A. Wedemeyer Award (American Journal of Distance Education) and by the Association of Educational Communications and Technology's Educational Technology Research and Development Journal Award.
